Thrift Share Monday-Girls' Weekend Edition

This month flew by! I still have lots of thrifted finds to share. :)

The first weekend of the month I found myself heading to the Columbia Gorge area for a girls' only weekend with my friends, filled with river-rafting and wine-tasting. I'm not much of a wine drinker but I found two wines that I really liked. Unfortunately, I didn't bring any home with me but I can buy it off of the winery's website. :) I didn't think there would be any thrifting on this trip (being the die-hard thrifter I am, I looked up thrift stores in the area we were lodging and didn't see any nearby) but one of my friends spotted an antique store when we were heading to a winery. Here are some of the things that made me drool. I would have loved to bring them home but they wouldn't fit in my suitcase.

Some flour sifters and other fun kitchen gadgets.

I adored this radio but I was about out of cash on my road trip budget.

I would have loved these lamps in my room growing up.

Another cool radio.

I could picture this on the back porch off of my house. It was $1500. And my friends probably wouldn't want to be squished in the back of the van on the way home.

I found some fun kitchen towels and some other linens.

Fun round tablecloth for the summertime.

This one needs some TLC. I'm hoping a good soak will have it as good as new.

Retro hankie.
And there was some other vintage goodness through this trip too.

Great way to reuse a rusted car frame, if you have one hanging around your premises. :)

This reminded me of my vintage bike at home.

Shabby jeep used by the winery to drive through orchards.

Totally 60s picture at the Bonneville Dam. I think the wood paneling gives it some added flair.

This Week's Inspiration 6/19/11

Perfection is the enemy of DONE.
A variation of a Voltaire quote I came across this weekend. I've added this sentence to my small, but growing motivational poster of other sayings on my bulletin board. As one who is adept at procrastination and has many piles of things, projects, work and tasks waiting for the perfect moment to be accomplished, this is a great reminder to just do it now.

Craft a More Productive Day. Some great tips that I'll be incorporating.

Are you a piler too?. Yep, guilty as charged. :)

This Week's Inspiration 6/12/11

Last weekend, I was out of town with a few of my friends. We went river rafting for the first time. Ever. I was visibly shaking as I made my way down a long series of stairs to the raft where we'd be spending the next few hours. A lot of maneuvering our raft accordingly was working as a team to row at the same time and keep our feet planted to support ourselves as we went over some rough currents. We were focused on having a fantastic time and not falling overboard and we managed to do just that. After making it through the strong currents and into calmer waters, I recalled the feelings of absolute exhiliration, happiness and like I was going to be ill. I also decided at that moment I was going to take those feelings with me into trying other new things in my life. Damn, if I could go down a crazy river with my besties and a somewhat sane river guide, I could do anything! These feelings have waned a bit as I returned home on Monday and I spent the rest of the week embracing my inner slacker. With tomorrow being the start of a new week and the last week of school for my kids (ACK!), it's definitely time to find my motivation and routine again.

Flylady is definitely at the top of my list again. I spent a lot of time cleaning my office before I left for my trip so that I'd be ready to jump into work when I got back. Yeah, that didn't quite work out. :) I think this will be the week things get going again. (Side note: My husband got a message this morning from our relatives saying they'd be in the area today. So housework has already commenced).

Frugal Hacks: Widening the Mind as a Frugal Survival Skill.

Unplugged Sunday at Beauty That Moves. We've already been cable-free for 1 1/2 years. I'm not sure if my family could unplug for a day. I'm willing to give it a try.

I loved watching this and this lady's attitude on focusing what you do have.

Have a great week!
